Preteens at Rescue Mission 2-8-2014

On February 8, 2014, a group of preteens and parents served at the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission.  It was a rewarding time for all who went.  When we arrived, the preteens were immediately put to work prepping for lunch in the kitchen.  Lettuce was chopped for the salad, eggs were cracked and blended, and tears flowed as onions were diced.   Another group of preteens helped organized the pantry.  After the prepping was done, we helped welcome a group of homeless who came for lunch.  After lunch, we took a tour of the Mission.  We learned about how God is watching over an amazing service to the needy in the valley.  The Mission is a place that not only feeds the hungry, but also houses many without shelter and helps educate and rehabilitate hundreds.  On our tour we met some of the families that are staying at the Mission.  Being able to go and meet some of the people, especially the children at the Mission,   touched the hearts of all.   Our service was much appreciated by the staff and the people we served on our trip, but I truly believe that it will be something that the kids will never forget and will give them a new meaning of service and having a giving heart.  The Mission could always use volunteers.  They not only feed the hungry, but also administer healthcare, help people find employment, finish or continue their education, and most importantly learn more about Jesus.  If you’d like to volunteer contact Linda Garland at 760-347-3512 x-221
